South Lake Tahoe Food & Wine Festival

Circus Themed Food and Wine Festival

Last month, Harrah’s hosted the 9th annual South Lake Tahoe Food & Wine Festival. With their signature finesse, Harrah’s packed three full days with foodie-focused events ranging from tastings to late-night parties.

At the heart of the excitement was the Grand Expo Market. The Special Events Center at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe transformed into a lively Circus-themed tasting room, brimming with local vendors, tasty bites and bottomless samplings of wine, beer and spirits.

Vendors from the hotel group’s most beloved restaurants made an appearance, dishing out bite-size samples of everything from prime rib to salad to sushi. Local favorites like the Sage Room made an appearance alongside iconic destinations like the Harrah’s Southern California.

Needless to say, the food was flawless. There was truly something for every taste. Guests enjoyed plump southern-style prawns and grits, crispy carnitas tacos and perfectly seared scallop appetizers before hitting a sweet note with pumpkin cheesecake and snack-sized desserts.

A collection of California-based wine, beer and spirits made the perfect complement to the culinary spread. Hitting the mark for both taste, variety and quality, favorites like Tahoe Blue Vodka, Jam Cellars and Anchor Steam punctuated dozens of refreshment options.

Arguably, incredible food and drink are to be expected at such an event. What no one predicted was the elaborate Circus-themed decor and entertainment that stretched throughout the event. Every hour, on the hour, guests would circle around for circus acts even the Ringling Bros. would be proud of.

Acrobats and contortionists took the stage, delighting guests with theatrical performances and hard-to-believe talent. Complete with a ringmaster and an energetic crowd, it was almost possible to forget that food & wine were the main event.

For an event lasting just a few hours, Harrah’s managed to pack a full day’s worth of food, drink and entertainment into the Grand Expo Market. A must-do event for any foodie in the Lake Tahoe area, we’re already marking our calendar’s for next year’s South Lake Tahoe Food & Wine Festival.
