Rated one of the best fireworks shows in the nation, Lake Tahoe’s 4th of July fireworks over the lake are not to be missed!
South Lake Tahoe’s annual fireworks bonanza is pretty epic. The show happens over Lake Tahoe, which is pretty awesome in itself. It’s in sync with music, it’s patriotic, it’s emotional—it’s one of the best community events of the year.
City of South Lake Tahoe’s Lights On The Lake Fireworks Show
- July 4th, 2026
- Free show

A fireworks show so good, it’s gotten a nod from the American Pyrotechnics Association, the South Lake Tahoe Lights On The Lake show is not to be missed.
Synchronized to music, these 4th Of July fireworks are elite. The best viewing is, well, anywhere, since they’re over the lake. But people tend to colonize the El Dorado Beach and Lake View Commons area around dusk.
The fireworks extravaganza begins at 9:45pm, so make sure you’re in position well before then. You can view them from the beach, from your campsite, from basically anywhere along the shoreline—but the best place to be is on the water. More on that later.
